Getting Your Hands On A Military Hummer

If you've been wondering how to go about buying yourself a real Hummer, and I don't mean one of the production street models that are available by GM, but rather an actual military Hummer used by governments, you're going to find it challenging. As it is, these battle-ready vehicles are not available to the public, and working models aren't even officially supposed to be sold to people.

The government has a policy about selling the Humvee, as the Department of Defense states that these Hummers do not pass driving standards and are therefore not suitable to be driven on city streets, roads, and highways. However, it is still possible to find military Humvees for sale at a military Hummer auction, however you had best be prepared to shell out a lot of money, as they are very rare, and more often than not, military repair shops and other dealers would rather hold on to them themselves, or repair them and sell them back to the military to be used in service again. The Humvees record in military action makes it still a desirable military vehicle, and owning one yourself, would be like finding a pirate's treasure.

Still, do not give up hope entirely, as it's still possible to find the odd military auction, or to purchase parts from intergovernmental agencies or dealers that might somehow be able to sell one or two off to the public.
